      Advice needed!

      Hi all... advice needed!

My mum is really concerned that she will not be able to cope with all the soting out of stuff e.g. selling the house, getting visas, getting jobs, settling down in Australia and is beginning to think that it is all too much hassle!

      Can anyone offer advice???

      Regards, Dan x

I can't help with house sales or getting jobs - both can be a lottery! I would definitely recommend getting an agent to deal with the visa though - takes the stress away quite a lot! Don't get me wrong, you still have loads to do - get paperwork together etc but at least you can rely on the agent (if you get a good one) to ensure you have not missed anything!

      Good luck,

      Tracey.

I second what Tracy has written.

What I would add though is that older people like more achieveable and easier goals.

How about considering a shopping list approach for her, written down so that she can tick it off and see that the steps she is taking are getingher down that path.

      Just an idea.

hi dan ...the only advice i can give your mum ..is to take it one step at a time ....if you think of the process as a whole it all becomes very overwhelming ....it is a very long process and there are times when you want to just chuck it all in [been there] lol ...but here we are 18months down the line ready to put house on market and looking forward to booking those tickets ......im sure with your support she will get through it all

TACD - I don't think Dan's parent's are THAT old!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In their 40's I believe! Maybe I am wrong but I think you have made an incorrect assumption!

Dan, sorry if I'm wrong but please clarify :)

My youngest would argue that people in the 40's were getting an Old Age Pension

Fair point though tracy, Thanks for putting me right.

      Dan

go onto the Australian Immigration website and download an application form for your Mom dependant on what visa you are going for. Have a look at it together and the guidance notes will help. It will tell you what docs you are likely to need, training records, experience, work history, birth, marraige certs etc. If after this exercise it still seems daunting then go for an agent. We used This is Australia. The Agent has been fantastic. We phoned him at night or he would call at 6ish in the morning if required.

Lol, tracy, you're correct... I'm 16 and my parents are 46 and 45 - sorry - I should have made that clear!
