      Hi
My oh got stopped last week for 'failing to stop' at a stop sign. He was mortified as he has never had any points etc.. on his licence in over 24 years of driving & he'd only got his Aussie licence the day before. He said there was no traffic coming either way and he had a really clear view, but unfortunately there happened to be a unmarked police car nearby! He got 3 points and a $150 fine!!! It certainly makes you extra careful.........

I got stopped over the easter break in the middle of deepest darkest north perth doing 81kph in an 80 to 60kph zone. The buggeres were just hiding 200m past the 60 sign and were flashing folk as they went past the sign.

Doublke demites - 4 point and $150 fine.

Thats one thing about WA - there are loads of speed cameras and on bank holidays its a brave move to speed - even on the country roads!.

I had a nice chat with dept of transport on wednesday and i was surprised to find the points and fine given relate to the speed you were doing ,,
      upto 13km over the limit--1point
      13-20 over the limit--3points
      20-29 over the limit--4 points
so on ,the fine also rises with the points. Now maybe im just being paranoid but how come everyone i know who has been done(and im talking double figures) has been charged with 74 in a 60 zone ,or 81 in a 60 zone ,94 in an 80 zone,,are they just adding one on ,to do us abit more ?im certainly going to ask to see the speed clocked if i get pulled. Also as anyone tried arguing it out that the warning signs are always hidden or pointing the wrong,i wanted to at weekend when they pulled Gary but i was too chicken ,lol

Well when I got diddled, the copper originally wanted to give me $300 and 6 points. There is adifference between aleged speed and actual. My actual speed was 89, however it was alleged to be 81. Go and figure.

Anyway after some banter with the copper, he asked if I wanted it reduced duh! Anyway I did. Must have felt sorry for me.

My OH who never had any points in the UK and used to point this out to me when ever he could, has now been done twice for speeding....1st time he got 3 points (cant remember the fine) 2nd time he got 1 point (again not sure of the fine, think it was $149) then at the weekend he was pulling away from being parked as he was putting his seat belt on and he got pulled over (by which time he had actually got his belt on)....he was given another 3 points and $149 fine!!!!
