      Hi Tanya & Andy,
Rules may have changed since I went on a plane last April but this is what we had to do.
We took bottled milk and at security they asked that we gave it to our daughter to try (they said we could do it if we liked or give it to her).
The other option is that they sell baby milk cartons in shops the other side of security so just need empty bottles.
They won't stop you taking it just want to know it's 'safe'.

      Hope this helps.
      Tracey.

Hi Tanya and thank you Tracey! I was wondering about this too as our youngest will still be drinking formula when we go. Good idea about taking the empty bottles! Any other tips for travelling long haul with little ones?

      Take care,

      Hi Tanya & Andy,
Only just sent application in so a while off yet. Glad the advice was of help.

      Hi Lisa,
Some other tips I can think of -
      1. Take plastic cutlery that you can dispose of (if you are up to that stage).
      2. Disposable bibs.
      3. Milton Tablets for sterilising.
      4. Calpol in sachets - so you can get it through security (or buy it the other side of security).
      5. Teething powder sachets (as they can be funny about gel sometimes).

Don't forget the favourite teddy/blanket/soother - otherwise disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Happy travelling

When we went in Feb I just took all my empty bottles and a tin of formula. They were fine I didn't even have to open the powder.
I think you need to open all jars/tins of babyfood though so it may be worth buying it after security, if in doubt of what you can get just ring up boots airside and they will help.

If your little one is crawling when you go let them crawl about in departures as much as you can. Also, I get organised for things I need for take off when in departures and then board as late as possible, otherwise it's another half an hour with a wriggly child on your knee. I have a feeling you don't pay for a cot but don't quote me on it, the good thing there is you get the front seats and therefore more leg room.

Sounds disgusting but don't wash that favourite toy/blanket for a few days before you go, the familiar smell (eurgh!) of home is comforting to them.

NO MUSICAL TOYS!!!!!! after a flight that long the sound will be ringing in yours and everyone elses ears for weeks.

Finally, don't get stressed. If your baby cries there is not alot you can do about it. On our flight back a poor child of 9mths cried almost non stop from Singapore he was so exhausted and his parents were beside themselves walking him up and down and jiggling him trying to pacify him but you know I was only 2 seats behind and can honestly say it didn't bother me, I just felt for his parents they looked on the verge of a breakdown.

      best wishes
      Michelle
