      Don't have damn channel!

Aw I don't have history channel. It's been on twice recently on ordinary telly and I missed both. I've just finished the book, bit doom and gloom but very interesting. My Mum's brother and his wife emigrated in 1960 with their 14 children, yep, 14 and were apparently the biggest family to emigrate. Their stories and pics are in the Welcome museum in Fremantle. They're all over Oz now and I hope to look them up when I arrive!

God i wish that i had/had'nt seen this post making me watch the programme, so many people with sorrows an a couple of people with such luck an good fortune, an 1 individual now being a multi millionaire after he an his brother spending their 1st $100 on some land that grew n grew.

Just thinking bout these peep's is still bringing tears to my eye's, wether it be from the humour or the hard strife they went through, i mean on the ship shagging behind the funnel (did anyone else get that bit) just to get close to your loved one, to living with the roaches an not having proper running water, to knowing that they did'nt have horse drawn carts down the streets.

Yes some were home sick but none ever mentioned missing anyone back at blighty, or did i miss summit throu the tears of laughter an sadness of those peeps, who were trying to make a better life for them an their kids, an even thou they were told that they were wanted down under with a plush life an whatever they only found what their heart wanted, an obviously some did'nt.

So what am i getting at here............ LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT................. so dont waste it, an live your life to the full wether it be here or down under fullfill your dreams an give your family the best you can, where i am it's pretty S*** so if i dont get the yes i'm getting out of this area.

But those £10 poms have given me a lift tonite an i aint gonna waste another minute, if i dont get the YES vote i'm heading south. (no Emms souther)

Yep we watched it last night too...

Blubbed the whole way through! That young couple who went and loved it, then came back to london but only stayed a year before returning to Oz - I loved them! They were lovely and i hope that hubby and i are like them too one day! They made what they wanted out of life, rather than expecting everything to be handed to them on a plate like the others in the immigration camp!

I loved that the millionaire guy still looked like a farmer, and had his feet still firmly on the ground, did you see the tears in his eyes as he was standing on his hill overlooking his land.... that was a beautiful story!

I noticed that the lady who didn't like it but stuck with it and just winged the whole way through, and winged about people called her a pom when she had lived there 50 years, still had an English accent.... i just thought it was clear that she had never embraced the Aussie way of life, i mean to be there since you were a teen and not pick up a hint of an accent...??????

And the old dear at the end, couple of sandwiches short if you ask me!!!!!!

      Hi all,
I watched it AGAIN!! couldn't resist it although had seen it when it was on the BBC. Some of the people on it were a bit moany weren't they but like everyone says it isnt for everyone the Aussie way of life. But when you think that most of those people had come form post war britain were rationing was still in place and life was so hard, you would have thought Australia a garden of eden compared to where they had come from. But lovely to watch anyway. Did anyone see the program on afterwards about the convict ships? it was so interesting but was on so late that i couldn't watch it all. Did you know that there was a whole ship load of 350 women, petty crime offences etc, shipped over to boast the population as there were only a few women there at this time and hundreds of men. It was quite sad as lots of these women were in prison for such petty crimes as strealing a bunch of corn from a farmers truck. I hope it's going to on again sometime soon at a more reasonable time.
