      Unhappy On a downer...

      Hey

I am on a downer today after being so upbeat yesterday bout the house etc...

I have been thinking more and more of what if OH cant train as a bricklayer going on a student visa is really expensive and Mel was the cheaper option.

Our agent is not sure if we would qualify for PR if OH does the course..do I train instead as I have a taxes background I wanted to use my knowledge in Oz.

As you know OH daughter lives in Sunbury Vic and I dont know how he would react if we went to another state even though he says he dosent mind..

We will only have so much money left after school fees and college and I am starting to doubt wether we can make it

I emailed agent yesterday but she still doesn't know if it will be ok and I dont want to blow our chances ...

I knew it would be up and down but I didnt realise how down it would get me the thought of not being able to give it ago...

Thoughts please am I the only one ???

      Hi

Try and think positive thoughts... i know its hard at times!!! But positive thinking does really work.I am trying hard at the moment... just applied online last month..and had our house vaulied at the weekend at least 10 to 15 thousand pounds short of want we wanted!! So our finacial plans of what we thought we would have after paying of the mortgage is down alot!!. We will need a mortgage out in oz and the rates are quite high!! and we will have to have on for 30yrs?!

Oh thinks he is too old 43 next March... and he will have to take a tax exam has he is an accoutant (cima).. when hes out there (if we get there!) and he thinks that these firms what young up and coming students!!.So iam feeling abit down at the moment.. just paid visa bill for the oz visa £942... which we cant afford to let it go... and the rest off what we've paid so far as well!! Kids are keen to go ..2 boys 15 and 12, we went in October to the Sunshine coast and loved it... so we had a good look around etc.

Try and think positive... will send some to you!

      Shanti

I just think we will have to hand it all over to higher things and hopefully gut feelings wii tell us wht to do!!

Thanks for that I think it was the offer on the house that did it I know its worth more but is such a buyers market have been advised not to tell peeps we are going to Oz as they think they can offer silly prices...

I have thought about the young students as well but from what I have read the average age is 34 for students even though we are older...

We haven't paid anything yet just applied for the course and I know the agent is just looking out for us which I am grateful for but its frustrating isnt it lol

      Good luck with your plans

      Hi Debs and Shanti,

I think we all have our down days, and thoughts of 'should we do it/ can we do it' etc.

I've had plenty of those moments, at the moment we are struggling to sell our house and it looks as though we are going to have to sell (if we can find a buyer!) it for what we paid for it 3 years ago. I'm gutted, partly because we've spent quite a lot on it over the last 3 years, and partly because I feel I'm giving it away.
It also means that we will have a lot less money than we thought to take with us, which is quite scary. I've tried to take the attitude that we'll only get this chance once, and so many people don't have this oppurtunity so we should just go for it. Some might say this is reckless, but I don't want to look back in 10 years and wish we'd done it.

And Shanti, I think you are so right about handing it over to higher things, my instinct tells me to go for it, so I have faith it will all work out,

      Kind Thoughts to you both,

      Bec x
