      Question Fifo

We live in England at the moment but would love to come to Australia, we are 5 points short to come on our own but my husband has just been offered a FIFO job in Perth. The company has asked us to think long and hard about accepting as I will have no support network when we first come over( have two children 10 and 7) . Anybody got any advice for us before we make trhis decision.

      Thanks in advance

Hi Soolin and welcome to PIO

We are looking to move to Perth and its a possibility my hubby may need to look at fifo.

We have no support network or family in Perth as such, but if you stick around on this forum its a great way to start your support network I have got talking to some great people on this site in Perth and hopefully when we meet and the meet ups they have I will make some great friends.

I definately think its worth a chance.

      Good luck

HI should have made myself clearer FIFO is fly in - fly out, so hubby would be away to work while we stayed at home (Perth)

      Hi

When we move out this year my Husband will be doing FIFO. He is on the oil rigs so will be doing 1 month away and 1 month at home. He has worked away since he was 16.

You get used to it but I think you have to be a certain type of person - strong, outgoing and independant. We have 2 girls 9 and 4 and lucky that when we move we do have friends and family that could maybe help if we needed it.

Think about it long and hard as the life style is not easy and can be hard on your relationship but there are benefits too.

      Good luck
      Mandy
