Exclamation Where to live and renting around Sydney area!!

      Hi guys,

We need some help please, we have been a bit busy as we only found out that we were moving about 4/5 wks ago.

We will be working in Riverwood (Sydney area) and are on a average budget regarding renting, could anyone advice us on where a good area to live may be and how do we go about fiding accomodation?????
We have read about Penrith and have heard that Glenmore Park is a good place to live.

Also we are unsure about where to buy furniture from etc as we are not taking it out with us so a new life 100%.

      Thanks guys

Not sure about areas around Riverwood its in the south west I think? I recommend that you start by renting in the most upmarket area you can afford to start with. This allows you to check out the other geographically suitable areas over time with a view to moving to your ideal area later.
Not taking furniture is a good option we started out with two bean bags and an air bed. In this climate that's good enough to start with. In fact two to three years later the bean bags were still the main soft furnishing in the living room.

Not sure what the traffic is like around Riverwood - if you wanted to be near the water [and who doesn't] you could try renting in places like Oatley. Or if you don't mind commuting there is a direct service from the city to Riverwood station, which would allow you to look at renting in inner city areas, and would be handy for geting about to places like the North Shore, the eastern Beaches etc. Depends what kind of lifestyle/house you want. The south west of Sydney can be hit and miss - some nice areas but also some fairly grim industrial and run down places too. I don't think many people have a lot nice to say about Punchbowl, for example.
