Expo show - what can we expect
Hubby and I have given ourselves until Xmas to make a decision whether or not to go to Australia. (He has spoken about it on and off for about 12 years!!! but now we are serious) We are going to go to the Expo in Manchester at the end of the month and wondered what we can expect from it. I know it will be full of practical info about visas, agents, etc but will it have info about areas, schools kids 9 & 4, houses etc.
Do these shows help with making a decision about moving. I am about 70% Hubby 100%
Forgot - will they have facilities or things to keep kids amused as they are coming too.
Any info would be great.

Hi Mandy
Were also going to same expo and I think any info will be helpful. We're not taking boys as been told its boring for them. Might see you there. Looking forward to it

We are only taking the girls as we will be in Blackpool for 1 week and it will be on our way home, but meeting my brother and fiancee so hopefully take turns in keeping them amused.

We went to the expo in London in March it was quite expensive to get in cost about £15.00 each was very busy and long queue’s
The only thing we found useful was speaking to the banks and the companies that transfer money.
As we will be moving to Perth we were hoping to find info on jobs around Western Australia, but there was nothing there to help us.
We have fond pomsinoz to be allot more informative than expo ever was

Hello
Just got back from one in Covenrty, this was our first one. We found that yes the financial people were really helpful and there are loads of booklets, leaflets etc to be had. The shipping people were good to talk to as well. We were hoping to get some definate info on certain areas within states like Perth, NSW and even Brisbane that would be great for my OH's job but came away feeling even more unsure of where to go!!! Obviously everyone is there to sell their part of Australia!!! We didn't look at the Migration Agents or Visa stands as we've already sorted this part out, but I would think that they would be really useful to go and see. The seminars were good to go to though.
We took our 11 and 8 year old kids but not our 4 year old. Not really anything for them to do (they had their MP3 players with them) so they filled themselves up on all the freebie sweets that were on offer!!!
Hope this helps

Like mentioned earlier - the best people to talk to are the banks
The rest are just there to tell you that you need them to get you there and there's no other way.
I've had a bit of a negative veiw of agencies since I started my journey.
They always seem to be thin on the ground with info - unless you are willing to pay for it.
All the info you need is available and for nothing - it's just a matter of looking/asking the right questions.
In my opinion the best people to speak to are those who have already done it.
It's easy to get rail roaded into making a rash decision and regret it - take your time and don't comit too quickly.

Thanks for the info.
We are looking for any info at all. My brother and I were born in Oz but have been here most of our lives. There is a lot of our family over there but dont keep up but parents still do so they could help. Both men work on the oil rigs so could work anywhere in the world so we are not really looking at new jobs for them as such. It is how we get started with the visa process, banking, housing and mortgages, schools I suppose the usual.
We will go and hopefully come away feeling less anxious about making this decision.
