Hi Jane,
Congrats on booking your flights, I am so looking forward to being able to do that.
I think this sounds perfectly normally - although have not yet got visa's I am imagining all of the things you have said, I cannot even think about the saying goodbye part of it, it will be so, so emotionally I'm absolutely dreading it, I'm thinking we should book our flights for a sooner rather than later getaway so that we don't have such a build up to our leaving day!!
See it as time to enjoy everyones company rather than dwelling on the fact that you're leaving!!
Good Luck!

Hi Jane,
ive not been through what your going through now. I still wanted to say keep your chin up.
After all the posts ive read on here over the last few months, we're all going to go through the same thing.
Its a really horrible part of it, very bitter-sweet. Just try and remember why you are doing this, and how you felt when you first started all the visa process. It will all fall into place eventually.
In the mean time, we're all here for the moral support. Most of us understand what your going through.

Jane, what your feeling is perfectley normal!!
As well as all the emotions you have described , I think I also had a bit of guilt thrown in as well just for good measure.
Try and enjoy these next few weeks as much as poss'. Spend time with your closest friends and family......even if it is just sitting watching tv and having a cuppu with the them.
Visit as many places.......even ones that you see every day, take as many pics and just try and take it all in.
All of these memories will bring a smile to your face once you are over here.
Everyone thinks the waiting game is the hardest part of the visa process........believe me........nothing prepares you for the goodbyes!!
Good luck and just remember why your doing this and the new life lays ahead for you and your family.

Hi
I feel just the same!
We've got our visas and are trying to sell our house, then we'll be off asap. It all seems a bit surreal at the moment - we're playing another waiting game now trying to sell the house.
Our families are quite supportive and want us to go for it, but I can't help feeling guilty about moving so far away from them all knowing that some of them definitely won't visit us (however - they're are plenty that will - hopefully!)
I feel guilty about taking our 5yr old son away from his best mate next door - I know he'll adapt, but can't help feeling bad about it. I just hope we can find a nice friendly place to live with loads of kids they can make friends and play with.
I wake in the night worrying about the 'what if's', money, jobs, school, making friends etc etc My recommendation to you if you're worrying about the same things is if a sentence begins with 'what if' just stop yourself from thinking about it and do something else instead, as you'll just go round and round in circles until you go mad!
However, having said all that I know deep down that this is the right thing for us to do and the right time to do it. To be honest I'm quite excited really!! I try to think of it as a big adventure - a bit childish I know, but it helps! I also think of how the whole experience will benefit our kids - seeing a different way of life, meeting lots of new people, doing new things and how it'll provide opportunites for other family members to travel and see a bit of the world.
I try to imagine how I'd feel if we suddenly turned round and decided to stay here and not take this opportunity - I know we'd regret it.
We've got to take this chance, I know it's going to be hard work and at times upsetting, but if we don't go we'll never know how good it could be! Plus if it all goes wrong, at least we can say we tried to live our dream, which is more than most people can do.
Sorry if I'm waffling on a bit! - it's just how it gets me!
Good luck with everything you do!

Hiya,
You appear to be suffering what is commonly known as leaky eye syndrome. This causes sudden outbursts of water from the eye area of the face and is mostly linked with the migration to australia process. We too suffered with this syndrome and would like to offer our support and sympathy!
Seriously though, what you are feeling is perfectly normal and I would like to echo what Lesley said, there are plenty more moments like this to come when the goodbyes begin. We thought we were prepared for this - ha ha no such luck for us. Have a peek at our blog!
The best advice is to enjoy your time in the UK and then be ready for the next stressful bit. Oh and visiting here and sharing how you feel with all of us will help too!

Lesley is very wise...
I think it took me a bit by surprise too. It was like the whole process had been a bit of a game, where I wanted to 'pass' each part and win the visas. Then when we had them, it all turned real (this is just my experience
) and I suddenly started thinking 'Oh my goodness, it's real; I am leaving my whole life behind, eveything I know and that defines me' and it was hard. But it was also easy because I love my OH and kids and they were still excited, and I didn't want to affect them, so I made up my mind to carry on partying and enjoy the 'last' everything*. So I did! It wasn't easy at times, but I am so glad we came.
I haven't got any advice, but I would say just go with the flow, don't think too hard, accept every emotion you feel at face value, don't try to think too hard and enjoy every day where ever you are!
LC
*We've been back, so turns out it wasn't the 'last' and nor will it be!

yep i agree with what the lazy one says, i`m the same since getting visas makes it all so much more real, had loads of doubts recently, but im sure we all do, its a huge thing, i cant wait to get to the stage of booking the flights but at the same time i know that this is when i`ll prob catch that leaky eye syndrome!
