"shall We Shan't We"
Hi. We are new to this site and at the moment in the process of "SHALL WE SHAN'T WE".
My husband is an Aircraft Fitter and has qualifications as Mechanical Production Engineer so would like to know if there's plenty of work for him. Apparently his job is on the MODL but always seem to require citizenship. I am a Healthcare support worker with no qualifications and we have 2 boys aged 15 and 11. Oh, and a dopey mutt who we couldnt leave behind.
Does anyone know if theres any state currently in demand for hubbies career. Also, idealy would like to have job to go too. Is this possible.
Were going to Expo in Manchester Oct. Hopefully come away with loads of Info.
Also, I think we still have to fill in TRA for his trade. Don't think thats changed. Hubby doesn't think it looks too bad. We're also considering doing the 136 visa ourself. Is that wise?
We have spoke to the boys about the poss of going and they are quite keen.
Any info would be gratefully appreciated, from job websites, school info, cost of visa's, taking mutt, plus anything else
Need to make a decision soon as hubby is 42 and I'm 41. Yep getting on.

Hi Deborah
We applied for our 136 visa without using an agent. It was fine, just take your time filling in the forms. The thing that took the longest was getting my husbands qualifications certified by Engineers Australia.
We started the application process at the end of last year and gained our PR visa in June.
Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration
You will get lots of information from the Expo, we went to one in Dublin last year with each region having a stand and therefore able to tell you who/ what they needed.
Also, you will need to get your documents certified, there is a thread ongoing at the moment about who can do it for you and as prices vary from nothing to a couple of hundred pounds its worth making a note.
In my opinion, if you have a skill in demand then it is easy enough to go it alone in the application process.
Either way, good luck
Michelle

Thanks. I think the expo will be a good start.
Well done with your visa. When are you off and where.
