Question Just decided to move to Oz

Hi, Please can anyone help us ? we have just decided to move to Oz from Liverpool, we have 3 children and want a better and safer future for them and we think Australia is the right place for us.

The problem we have is that we have never been to australia before and don't know the different area's.

My dream would be somewhere that is good for families, within a 15 minute drive to a beach and city centre, good schools, decent shops, and not too unbearably hot , so not much really !!!

We have not started the application process yet but I will be next week when I get some more tips from the internet.

a little bit aout our family

I am 27 and my husband billy is 29, we have a nine year old daughter, a 7 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. I own a designer childrens boutique and billy is a self employed plasterer, I'm not too sure what I want to do for work but billy would like to continue his trade when we get there.

thanks for any help you can give us.

Hi Lisa and family and welcome to PIO - so hard to choose where to go, as VoD says every place will have something to offer. We chose WA and love it here and QLD would have been our second choice after visiting it a couple of years ago

I just want PIO to be a happy place where people are nice to each other and unicorns poop rainbows

      Hey there

OH and me are Brisbanites! We were in the same boat - wanted a better, safer life for us! We had never been to Oz before. I was looking at moving to USA and OH wanted OZ so we weighed up the pros and cons of both and away we went to OZ.

OH is a bus driver for Brisbane city council and I am a registered nurse. We rented a house here for 18 months and then bought a property out in Sinnamon Park, Brissies west. From our place we are 12k`s from the CBD, about 2 hours from Noosa on the Sunny Coast , bout 1-1 1/2 hours from Australia Zoo, an hour from the Gold Coast- Surfers Paradise.

Out here I find that I am working less for teh same money but OH is doing about 10 hours a week more for the same money. We have a nice house that we would NEVER have been able to afford in the UK in teh type of area that we could never afford. We run 2 cars comfortably. A little Toyota Yaris for me to get to work and do the shopping in and he has a Holden jackaroo 4x4. Insurance is cheap, fuel is cheap (to a Brit anyway!).

Over here OH and me have all our days off together adn in a fortnight we have only 2 days where our shifts are opposite. For us it has been the dream life! We got everything that we wanted out of the move. I can honestly say I cannot think of a bad thing that we have seen or has happened to us. (I`ll try!!)

PM/Email me and we can chat more if you want to.

      Hope this helps

Hi guys and welcome, when we get our visa's we are heading for wa we just fell in love with it and also we have friends there so that helped a little. But for me it was watching the kids how they got on with and thanks to our 3 weeks of traveling oz my youngest daughter came on with her talking as she was under the speech thep. And they can't wait till we get out there.

They became a true oz in 2 days with their boardies and thongs and my oh with his stubbie!

Good Luck guys with what you decide.

      Hi Lisa
Good luck with everything - I'm in Sydney, about 20 minutes drive from City, 5 minutes to nearest shopping mall and 10 minutes to beach - it's great but obviously not for everyone. If you want to know anything there are people on this site from all over Oz who can help you so ask away....

      Hi,

Which areas did you visit in WA ?, I thought I had decided on SA, but not so sure now, we're going to fly out to Oz sometime next year probably about april time with a view to moving permanently in december ish ! I really don't know where to start we will probably only be able to go out for about 3 weeks, don't know how much I will be able to see in that time. I'd really like to view schools too.

good luck on your move, lisa and family

      Hi,
We're in the process and have decided on Adelaide. We've been there and it appealed to us for many reasons - the mediterranean climate, most suburbs within a close proximity to beach and hills, quite a small homely city, laid back lifestyle.
      Good luck with it all,
      nic
