      What Age??

      Hi everyone,

I am 29 an have booked my flight to come to oz in November on the WHV but what age would you say is the ideal age to go travelling or seek a new life, personally I don't think it should be a debate but I've had a few jibes saying I'm too old etc etc. better later than never tho hey?!

I was 28 and OH was 29. We had friends who both went who were 30 (they just got a WHV before their 30th birthdays).

We thought we would be too old as well, but we were very surprised when we started out. OK a lot of people take a Gap year out of Uni and go travelling, but also a lot of people get into their late thirties and think it is now or never and go for it.

We met loads of other travellers, some of whom were even in their 60s and 70s!! You are never too old to experience the delights of travelling the World!

      Hope you enjoy your trip.

Thanks for that, made me feel better about going now, guess its just small minded people who think you have to be late teens early 20's to go travelling then!

Hi Mate. Yeah the same crossed my mind a few years ago when I decided to head on the WHV, I was 28 and thought to myself it's now or never. Met other travellers of ALL ages, although after sampling other countries I have kinda thought that I probably met more younger people in Oz than elsewhere, not to say it was a bad thing.
You'll have a blast mate. Enjoy

I'd say you were the ideal age! You will be taken more seriously by employers, and I doubt you'll be back!! I went with the OH when we were 23 and 26, and most of the people we met were older. They all had the time of their lives! It's never too late, just go for it and have an amazing time!!

Haha, Other Half!! Was my boyf, now my husband!! And awaiting our invitation....! Hopefully we'll be back there within a year! I'd say, find a job you love, get sponsored and stay, it's an amazing place!! And much more straighforward to apply from Oz than from back here! Good luck :)

I took my "gap year" when I was in my mid thirties. You cannot be too old to do things like this, I hope I do another gap year when I am in my 50's or 60's. I feel like I really benefitted from being a little older, more confident and comfortable to do what I wanted to do and not follow the herd. And company was always there for when I wanted it too.

My "gap year" was not intended to start a new life, it was literally taking some time out. At the end of it I went back to the very satisfcatory life I already had (in the UK at this stage). I moved to Australia at 40+ and it has not disadvantaged me in any way. You are a spring chicken in comparison.
