SO now its June..it is Red Nose Month!! So any spare change please can I ask you to think about popping it into a Red Nose appeal box...or saving it all up and donating to our page "Pozzies in Perth" for the city to surf 13km walk that we will be doing at the end of August.
I would like to see SIDS eradicated in my lifetime so no-one has to suffer the pain of loosing a child for no apparent reason. There is some research happening in the States at the moment which is looking at the possibility of something in the Brain Stem that causes the Baby not to breathe when sleeping......
this is copied for Hogs for Hope facebook page
Dr.Kinney and her colleagues in the Department of Pathology have made tremendous strides in their efforts to understand, diagnose and even prevent SIDS.
Groundbreaking studies out of the CJ Murphy Laboratory point to a deficiency of seratoninin in the lower brainstem-which could lead to SIDS infants being unable to respond to stressors during sleep that a healthy baby without this deficiency would have no problem handling.
With the help and support from all of you Dr.Kinney hopes to identify and treat infants with seratonin brainstem defect early and develop preventative treatments that would correct the seratonin deficiency -potentially eliminating the risk for death, please help us find a cure ♥
With research hopefully we will get rid of SIDS forever
