"Awesome!"............?
Watching "giggle and hoot" (as bloody usual) this sunday morning. When they have the skits between programs involving Jimmy Giggle talking to a soft cuddly owl by the name of Hoot, the use of the word "awesome" is almost as frequent as "the" and "and". Everything is friggin "awesome!".
You encounter this rather silly word a lot in every day use here. TBH I find it mildly irritating and extremely lazy. To a not so old fart like me its an invasion of Americana in everyday language amongst children and adults. There are awesome things around us. The universe, nature, seeing your children being born, that sort of thing, they're awesome!
I know I know. I need to get a life, dont sweat the small stuff, I'm so negative about Australia, I'm a whingeing pom, its a different country where they speak differently so get over it.
There. I think I've pre-empted most answers.
Does anyone else find the over use of "awesome" decidedly irritating?
I'd rather a frontal lobotomy than a bottle in front of me

Totally agree. The overuse of this word drives me absolutely nuts.

Yes, it has been a plague here in the US. Can anyone suggest a good substitute?
