Need a little help please.
Hi, i'm 24 male, who has an NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering, city and guilds, and also key skills, i'm already in WA on a working holiday visa, I am currently seeking work but due to my qualifications not being recognized in Australia its proving difficult to get a job.
Does anybody know where to go and who to speak to about getting my qualifications assessed and recognized in Australia as i'm running out of idea.
Thanks in advance

Do they have TAFE in WA? I would be looking at RPL certs ( recognised prior learning)that is what you would look at over here in Victoria.

Unfortunately the system in Australia is pretty narrow, in that you will need to get your qualifications recognised through a recognition of prior learning (RPL) process. This will basically equate your UK quals to the Australian equivalent, and employers here will then have a much better idea of what they can get you to do.
Just had a quick look on google, there seem to be plenty of organisations that do RPL, eg this one http://www.easyrpl.com.au/ but I'm sure there are many others too.
Good luck!

thanks for the reply, i have already spoken to them, and they said for electricians they don't do them....(which i thought was a bit strange but hey never mind) currently going through the process with the 'overseas qualification unit' (as they not charging me $300) but this will only get them recognised academically , is that going to make any difference to an employer, or will i just hit the same wall.....
Thanks again :-)
