Mortgage/rent/utility bills fair enough but the price of fruit is surely being a bit picky. Having said that I have noticed & even sorta winged the price of apples here in tesco/asda is bloomin high just now.. pink ladies esp (my sons favourite) & I often dont let him have a water melon as they can go up to about 3 or 4 quid for 1 & theres only him that eats it. (supermarkets should sell them in halves i reckon)
How quickly/easy are fruit tree's to grow in a normal garden ? I quite fancy doing that, not because we eat heaps of fruit but to encourage birds (and possibly the bats if I'm allowed to say that)
exactly, if you can afford your bills etc your not gonna say oh im not coming cos of the price of those blooming lemons and apples lol. Yeah i was saying that earlier, in tesco a lot of the time the fruits quite dear anyway and when its on offer its usually tiny strawberry and raspberries that look kind of out of date or not ripe yet lol. The morrisons here do a half watermelon for around 2 or 3 quid, ive never saw a half watermelon in tescos before. I'd quite like to grow my own fruit too

Don't mention bats Chook.............Most folk have a down on them atm due to Hendra virus. It wouldn't bother most folk as most folk aren't in contact with horses but now it's been found in a dog, but despite assertions that there's no chance of catching it from a dog (why from horses and not dogs, I have no idea) Dog owners are getting worried.
In season whole watermelons (big buggers) sell for a dollar each at my greengrocer and honeydew melons for 50c. I don't know how they recoup transport costs at that price?

I just did my usual and checked Coles website - 60c for a lemon, that's about the same as here using the 2.2 division thingy. $4 my eye! Avocados ain't cheap at nearly 2 bucks a pop, but I bet they're nicer than the anaemic wee fellas we get here!
The closer we get to moving, the more I 'window shop' Coles & Woolies! Saddo hehe!

Bulk BILLING doctor (although buying is probably more correct LOL)
It all depends on where you go. Like everyone else, doctors want to live in the nice places so you have a better chance of finding one where there are loads of doctors and lots of competition in the market and they are scarcer than hen's teeth in places where there arent many doctors to meet the need. You would have very little chance of finding one in Canberra these days for example.
I dont know what it is with new migrants and the desperate need to find a bulk billing doctor - this country has a co-pay system (it doesnt have the NHS!!!!), bulk billing was designed for people who could not afford to pay the $30 it costs to go to a doctor. The price you generally pay for bulk billing is lack of continuity of care (not always, I know) because they tend to be in the larger medical centre practices.
I am happy to pay the $30 for a doctor that knows me - just yesterday, on the other side of town, totally out of context, I bumped into the GP that I used to go to in our practice (I had moved over to one of her colleagues when she had mat leave) and she recognized me even though I hadnt seen her for 2 years, only seen her half a dozen times before that and she instantly said that she had written an extension script for me only yesterday (because the new doc has been posted to Sri Lanka). I know that doesnt argue continuity of care specifically but it certainly demonstrates it within a practice! I dont mind paying for that sort of service.
