Can anyone of you guys give an comparsion against Norway? I've been living in the capital Oslo some time ago and basing on the pictures and movie clips from NZ it seems quite similar. Have anybody been there in Norway and can give any thoughts?

South Island has got lots of Fjords in Fjordland (and small Fjords in the Marlborough Sounds). And a couple of glaciers that come down close to sea level. Probably NZ has a similar population for the land size.

We also get cute penguins rather than people-eating polar bears :)

What a great thread. We have the same dilemma; OZ was always our first choice, however, I have been told I won't qualify for a skilled visa but I would qualify for a business visa, but I find the thought of setting up a new business in a new country a little daunting. However, I have a job offer from a guy I know in NZ and I am assured by my agent (Migration Associates) that I should have no problem obtaining a visa. NZ looks absolutely beautiful but the climate does put me off a little, I had hoped for a little more sun after living in Middlesbrough for 40 years! :-)

Surely just getting out of Middlesbrough will be a bonus, and I'm sure the summer in nz is a bit more reliable than the uk!

If i had the choice, then i would choose NZ. No nasties to kill or bite you, not as hot, cheaper to survive. More like the uk 30 yrs ago

Yes but salaries are like the UK 30 years ago too.
If you don't mind that then NZ is a great place.
      Regards

      Tony
