Dubbo anyone?

Hi

Has anyone got any info on Dubbo?

I'm after as much info as possible especially on schools, crime rates, shopping facilities etc. Don't know anything about this area except that it's a fair way out of Sydney about 5.5 hours which suits me fine

Many thanks

Tracy

Hi Tracy,
My hubby has a mate that lives in Dubbo - well on a large farmstead there, i havent been to Dubbo yet as this guy often drives down here to the coast to get some socialism as he puts it. From what i have heard its quite remote
have a peek at Dubbo City Council :: Welcome
Welcome to Dubbo

fatpom will become famous soon enough
Lived in the next shopping town to Dubbo about a 1-1.5 hours drive. Used to go there regularly at weekends. Dubbo has plenty of facilities, no worries there unless you're a real city kid.

These places can be very small towns in ways other than population and facilities. This isn't noticeable to the casual visitor, you have to live there to see it. It might amuse you or it might infuriate you but it won't go unnoticed. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and live in one of these places but the OH would never consider it again, too close to Alabama.
There are of course advantages such as easier to make friends and acquintances. Being a pom is no problem and possibly even an advantage if your attitude is right.

Check out (google) "the Gordon Estate". Some is hysteria, some is not.

Thank you so much everyone for that info... it's very greatly appreciated.

I don't want to live in a huge city - a small town is more my scene and a visit to a city every now and then is enough. I live 15 miles from a large city at the moment and I complain that is way too close as I love the countryside and I use all the village aminities in our nearest village - about 10KM's away. I'm more a small town person.

Thanks again and if anyone else has any info that would be great:)

Tracy
