Talking Life in Northern Beaches

HI All

I have just received confirmation of a job offer and sponsorship for a company in Cromer / Manly

We are now planning to do a full recce late July / early august to get a good feel of the place and the suburbs

Is there anybody out there who could give us some feedback on good areas to live in - and to visit while we are out there

We are aware of the expense and do not mind the travel upto 30 mins to get to work if needed

Anybody who may want to meet up and swap stories would be great as well , we have 4 kids (2 boys / 2 girls) 13 / 12 / 9 and 8

Many thanks for any information

KamlaK

Manly would be your best to live in, considering your work is there and you have a number of kids!

try to look at

www.realestate.com.au as an indicator to rental prices.

Word of warning, the commute can be long, so look within at least a 10km radius of where you will work.

Thanks for this - in your opinion what would be the best way to travel into Cromer - towards or away from Sydney

Alot does depend on what we can afford and like, but this feedback is important

Many thanks

Hi Kamlak

I guess you are better travelling away from the city towards Cromer, but you will find things more expensive there. There are lots of great areas around Cromer. Anywhere from Frenches Forest, Mona Vale, St Ives etc etc. I don't think you can really go wrong. It's more a case of how much you have to spend and how close to the beach you want to be. My advice would be to come out and take a drive around and get a feel for some of the places before you decide. Things may look nice on the internet, but you may find that you just don't like that area when you arrive.

Just as an aside, there is a group of mums who meet up once a month for coffee / lunch and a natter. You would be welcome to join us. Some people bring toddlers with them but most people have children in school, or even grown up children.

Good luck with your search

Daphne

Hi Daphne

Many thanks for your feedback it is greatly appreciated - we are now going back over for just under 3 weeks end of July / early august - I am going to spend a week with the company who have offered the sponsorship

During this time the family will have a good look around and as you advise see the area as it actually is

What date / time and location do the mums meet ? If possible my wife may join you to get the true story of life in the area

Many thanks again and look forward to your reply

Kamlak

Hi Kamlak

We usually meet on the first Tuesday of each month. Locations vary - we usually decide each month where we will meet the next month. I will keep you posted about where the August meet is.

In future months I will try and post details in the meet ups section of the forum, so keep your eye on that.

Take care

Daphne

We are moving to the area in August - my husband will be based in the CBD, how far is Manly from there? We are looking at moving to north of Sydney, but commutable distance - can you recommend anywhere nice - we have 2 children, aged 6 and 2. Meeting up sounds great - as we only know 1 other couple in Sydney!
