Need some suburbs (of Sydney) info

Hi there

We are looking to move to Sydney in November time and wondered if anyone is in the same boat as us.

We are looking into renting temp. accommodation initially but don’t have a clue of which suburbs are good or to avoid. Most of our work will either be in the city or North Sydney, so I guess somewhere with good transportation system and close to the city will be better. However, we want to stay in a leafy suburb too with sports centre, shopping, bus journey to the beach….etc (I’m not asking too much, am I?)

I would like to hear from anyone moving to Sydney too.

Cheers

becky

Hi Becky

We are moving to Sydney in September. We are staying with family in Auburn first off and we too are looking to rent first and then buy later. We have been looking at the Glenwood area or the menai area. Menai is more expensive but apparently has better schools. I think once you get there you will have to do the drive round to see what suits your pocket and what you like the best. We too have no jobs to go to but I'm sure something will come up. If you wish to chat, feel free to PM me,

Jackie (Mrs Pasty)

Hi Becky

Hope your plans are coming on ok. I would look at areas like Beecroft, Carlingford, and Cheltenham. To start with and then move closer to the beach and check out the prices there. Basically it gets more expensive the further east and south you go towards the city (from the north). The areas I have mentioned are on the train line into Sydney. They are around 30 mins from the beach. Like Jackie says, it's a case of having a drive around when you get here. It's really hard to get a feel for what an area is like until you actually go there.

If you need any more help, just shout.

Daphne
