Commuting times

We are seriously looking into making the move down under, and have therefore been looking at the australian real estate websites. What a minefield! As it is likely that my husband will be working in Sydney we have been looking at various suburbs and quite like the look of Sutherland - Menai, Alfords Point, Illawong etc. But I am not too sure on how long it would take to commute from these places in to the city - by train or any other method of transport.

If anyone has any other great suburbs that I could look at your help would be greatly appreciated. We have 2 small children aged 4 and 1.

We are loking at that area as well. Bonnet Bay is the current favourite :-) I think the commuting is somewhere between 45 mins and an hour. I checked CityRails' website.......not sure about driving times - I will be working (fingers crossed) at the airport (Mascot).

If you have got broadband, have a butchers at google earth.......it has sydney on there and u can get loads of details - even down to which houses in a street have swimming pools :-)
