Dave's Daily (Yawn) Sydney Price Check (for any saddoes who are interested.)

      Tuesday 21st August.

Central to Penrith off peak day return $8.80. (35 miles so probably compares well to UK?)

      Bananas $2.99 per kilo
      Orange navel $0.99 per kilo
      Red capsicum $9.99 per kilo
      Lettuce $3.99 each

      Total $7.90

(No doubt OUTRAGEOUS prices compared to ASDA, Tesco, Morrisons, ad nauseam.)

All at Harris Farms in Westfield, Penrith

Large flat white $4.50 at Michels in Westfield, Penrith.

      Sydney Morning Herald $1.70

Two schooners of Coopers Pale Ale at the Royal Exhibition Hotel, Surry Hills $5.90 each

Large curry, one meat, one vegetable $8.50 at cafe on Elizabeth St, Surry Hills.

Frankly, I find this sort of stuff, beyond tedious but judging by the endless debate on some posts, it's like sex, football, beer, chocolate, combined.

If this sort of thing interests you, I would not even bother planning to come to Australia.

But this is so much more real, like watching Big Brother. You can almost feel the tension as I take ten scintilating minutes deciding whether to have an extra banana or do without the lettuce. I should take pictures and do a live feed.

Yeah because being interested in things like running your household is so not important as a responsible parent. The kids aren't impressed when they get told no you can't have the food you like but get out there and play in the bush it's a better opportunity for you.

It's surprising how many members are a different sex to what we think

I bought Red Peppers (can't even force myself to call them capsicums!) yesterday from a fruit & Veg shop for $3.99 per kg. Nice shiny oens too, not the bashed and bruised rotten ones.

Train fares in Sydney are amazingly cheap...we went 200+km from the CBD to the Blue Mountains and back for like $16 return...in Brisbane I'd dread to think how much that would've cost!
