We are moving out to Oz in approx 6mths, both our kids are July babies currently youngest in their year groups. Will this change when we get to Oz for example Louis is currently Year 9, will he go back a year into Year 8...also, if anyone has any knowledge of schools in Albury area, please share your thoughts good or bad
We are planning to move at the end of the summer next year. Our eldest son is in year 9 (he is a march birthday) and will finish year 9 here in July. He will start in Australia in year 9 but move into year 10 at the end of Jan (after their summer break). The school year changes then - which is brilliant for our kids as they will only have to do a couple of months in the year they have just left (great to catch up on subjects they may not have studies ie Japanese, Australian Geography/History etc). We also have our daughter in year 7, repeating for a couple of months then moving up to year 8 in Jan 08.
Hope all goes well for you. Don't know the Albury area at all. We are planning to move to Sale Victoria (about 5 hours south I think - towards the coast) and have checked out some of the schools. They seem really good and we are happy with the results. The schools themselves have been so helpful it has made the move so much easier. (One primary even sent my son balloons and stickers and lots of pictures and letters by email).
