Nelson Bay
Does anyone live in or near to Nelson Bay?
Alot of my jobs ive been receiving via email are in and around Newcastle, but find your money goes alot further is you head out around Nelson Bay or even Stockton.
I have a 7 year old daughter so need a decent school for her.
Seems all i can find on Nelsons bay is all tourist bits, so is this a tourist destination town?
Many thanks

My old stamping ground. Yes very touristy but in a nice way. I really can't think of many placs in Oz better to live than Port Stephens of which NB is a part and I have lived in many places around Oz..

Althoug I havent lived in Oz (yet) I have visited a few times and Nelson Bay/Anna Bay comes in as one of my favourite places. It is touristy, but I never saw it as overly busy when I stayed in the area. Im very jealous if thats were you end up, beautiful part of the world :)
How can you shape the future if you dont understand the past . . . .

Many thanks for the replies. As its a touristy area, does that mean the food and drink is over priced like in england?

Our friends live in Nelson bay and we visited them there in April. I agree it is touristy but still a lovely place to live. They really like it there. In terms of food and drink - I'm not sure about what the weekly shop is like, but going out for a meal was pricey. Saying that it was still not as expensive as in Sydney.

Some of the houses out there are stunning. Waking up overlooking the bay from the bedroom. Better than my view from the bedroom of a road in the uk. Plus they are $200-300 a week cheaper than other areas.

Not really. Don't apply Brit standards to Australia, it doesn't work.
