Best suburb for commute to Prospect
Hi All,
I am very close to accepting an offer in the west sydney suburb or Prospect/Greystaines.
My partner will need to find a job so I am thinking that we should live out west but close to the city and not a million miles from the beach.
My prospective employer has suggested Newtown, I would appreciate any feedback on this as the suburb rating on the rentals site is only 67% against much higher scores for other suburbs?
Also would the beach suburbs of east sydney be too far away for a commute (drive) to prospect?
Many Thanks in advance
Tracy

Eastern suburbs would mean a trip across the city and then out Parramatta road/M4, you probably spend 2.5-3 hrs a day commuting. (1.25-1.5 each way) Newtown is a bit dingy to be honest it's a haunt for Students & hippies.
Try having a look around Concorde/Cabarita/Breakfast point it's on the Harbour and halfway between work and the city.

If I was working in Prospect I certainly wouldn't live on the Northern Beaches or Eastern suburbs. The commute is something I wouldn't want to do every day. As I have already suggested to a poster the Hills District. preferably suburbs west of Windsor Road.

Newtown always makes me think of Camden in London but I have a number of friends there that love it, lots of pubs and cafes/eating places. If you have kids I'd probably look at the Hills as Ellie suggested.

Thanks what would a commute from the hills district to the cbd be? Thinking my partner could be city based? Also are the hills broken into places as I will need to search for property? Any tips would be great!

Hi Tracy,
Newtown is not a good area, it is a bit rough. I love Prospect, very nice houses around there. Though must admit I didn't like Greystaines, buildings painted grey although there is a new housing estate there.
Liked St Mary's because it had a community feel about and is on a trainline so could get to work. Liked Westmead, Parramatta, Blacktown as well. But all these are not near the beach.
Have time to look around, enjoy the experience and hope you settle in quickly.
