why so much animousity?

It may be me being over sensitive but i feel a slight sense of animosity towards those of us who have decided that Australia is not for them (for what ever reason). As soon as someone posts anything negative against Australia they get called a whinging pom and some people get extremely defensive (even those that haven't even landed here yet!!).
Some of us are big and ugly enough to take it on the chin and give as good as we get but some folk are really having a tough time here and are in need of a shoulder....
What ever happened to all those sickly, glittery huggy things eh????

I can only give you my opinion, as someone who hasn't even landed there yet (except for a 3 week holiday). I know Oz isn't the land of milk and honey, we'll be going out there with not a lot of money, and know we'll have to work our butts off. We've already decided that if one of us can't settle, we'll both come back. And I think it's important to hear the negatives as well as the positives.

However, as someone who's lived in quite a few countries, I understand the need for rose tinted specs at time. I'm sure I've spent months only seeing the good when I've moved to new countries. When you up-end your life, and move away from family and friends, you need something to make it seem less scary. For some people, lots of negative posts take away from that, and it's not easy to deal with.

For me, if I don't want to read something negative, I just switch to another thread. I don't think giving anyone a hard time is the answer, but emotions run very high when people are undergoing such huge upheavels.
My opinion only
Mary

I don't feel any animosity at all, as you say Australia is not the right choice for all, but at least you have had the guts to give it a go and can say "I did that" rather than never trying and wishing you had.

If I knew how to give you a glittery hug - I would!!!!!!!

I think because there are quite afew folks not happy and going home ,negative or unhappy threads are more prominent on the forum ,hence being discussed more.I personally hold no anemosity against anyone who is unhappy,i actually pity them doing everything again in reverse!
You will always get happy posters who argue back over bad points ,but its just the same as the un happy posters arguing over another posters good points ,,works both ways!
