You are a big and kind person Aldo, and I want to give you a hug...unfortunately the thought has made me vomit a little...in my mouth....!
PiO has always been fun, informative and supportive. Perhaps people think they are just sharing a little 'tough love' in an attempt to help? Or perhaps they are scared that they might become one of those who can't settle here and need to return to the UK...
Personally I feel no animosity towards anyone...takes far too much effort.
Yawn (and not just the technicoloured sort!) cos I'm Layzee,

Thank you LC thats the first time I have laughed in a few days.
I agree wiith what Cal was saying, these posts are more prominent know becasue of the amount of people who have joined so theres bound to be increased debate on the subject if its reported more.
I certainly don't feel any animosity towards anyone wanting to return I only wish them happiness. and good luck.
10000 + members now when I joined i don't think there was hardly any you cant expect them all to have the same opinion.
I used to be a member of a virtual forum for a martial arts group and people had to start their posts with disclaimers that said that what they were posting was only their personal opinion and shouldn't be taken as anything else. Hope this site doesn't go the same way!
Having said that, perhaps those that have expressed less than supportive comments feel that those who have got the visas and made the big move only to decide that Oz isn't for them have somehow not made the most of their 'golden ticket'. Hello? The point is not that it's a 'golden ticket' but it's THEIRS so therefore THEY should decide whether they use it or not, no? THEY were the ones that became skint using all their money on agents and visa application costs, THEY were the ones who waited and waited and waited, THEY were the ones who didn't eat anything the day before their medicals so they might be slightly more favorable on the scales (ok, that might just have been me) so shouldn't THEY equally be entitled to say 'no thanks'?
Having been here 2 months, I've only just dipped my big toe into what is Australia and look forward to experiencing all that is has to offer - good and bad. Time and experience will tell whether my OH and I stay here or move on. Either way, I'd hope that people would be supportive of what we chose to do.
Personally, I like to read the negatives as much (if not more) than the positives about Australia, it's good to keep it real and to hear that things aren't always a bed of roses!
What I find annoying, is that it seems when people write anything positive about Australia and they are yet to emigrate (still living in England), they get treated as if they have no right to make a comment, there seems to be a small group of people who are ready to come down on you for daring to look at Australia in a positive way, and try to make you feel like a stupid dumb idiot for believing it to be better than England.
I think people should remember that where you live in Australia is going to have a dramatic effect on your opinion of the country and personalities, back-grounds, family and friends all play such a significant part in forming your opinion about the country. I suppose I'm just trying to say that EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND FREE TO EXPRESS HOW THEY FEEL (in a polite and respectful way).

When someone says something negative about Oz it is sometimes pounced upon but more often than not it is discussed from what I have seen. Only a couple of times on here have I seen things get slightly heated.
The majority of people posted on a thread started once, that they want to hear the negatives as well as the positives.
When someone says something negative about the UK the people that dislike life in Australia argue back. Is this not the same?
I was always under the impression these forums were for such discussions. I think there are just a handful of posters who are over sensitive. I am beginning to think most of those are the ones who dislike Australia.

Yep
That’s about the size of it. I have had my head bitten off and been called names for daring to call for a little balance in discussions! NOT on this site I might add, but on another! I have lived in OZ, for 3 years in fact and although that was almost 4 years ago now, I think I have some things to add to various debates.
Australia is certainly not for everyone and I wish only good things to those who have given it a ‘fair go’ and then made the decision to go back to the UK. I have experienced some hostility when I have tried to point out to those heading ‘home’ after a few years down under, that perhaps they might be wearing rose coloured glasses too. I find the MBTUK threads/posts essential reading as we prepare to head back to Australia later this year. Fore warned is fore armed after all.
Aldo, very best wishes, I hope you get some support on here, I’m sure you will.

Hi
I certainly don't feel any animosity to anyone who has been to Australia and is returning or has returned to the UK. In fact, I think the total opposite. I think they are very brave to admit it isn't for them and they are moving on. What I don't like is the pi$$ taking out of people who are obviously enjoying themselves and are happy with their new life.
Everyone wants different things and has different expectations from the move. Some get what they want, some don't.
