Thumbs up Desire to go to Oz gone.

Just back from holiday in Oz after 18 months of driving my husband mad with wanting to go and live in Australia. We decided on a holiday first to help with decision and it was the best thing for us.
It has made me realize that what I have here is worth much more to me than I thought.
How could I ever had contemplated leaving my family behind. I have 3 sons and a beautiful 4 year old grand-daughter.
I want so much to be part of her life in these early years and that would not be possible.
When we flew back into Heathrow my hubby said the weather is grey and dull and I replied I dont care its my home and I was so happy to be back.
Today the sun is shining, my pets are back from their tempory lodgings and I feel how lucky I am.
Lucky to have been to Australia, the holiday was great, but even more lucky to have found peace at last instead of the constant longing to go.
I think its great to follow your dreams and I wish everyone making the move the best but Im ready to put Australia to bed and enjoy what I have.

wow Jill how brave (not sure if thats the right word ) of you to make that decision.

I feel a bit the same not sure at the minute if the decision we are making is the right one.

I think the stress of getting the visa and the delays with house exchange has really confused me as to what i want.

Do you have your visa already or was the trip to decide whether to apply.

Good luck with the rest of your life

I'm really pleased for you that you were able to do a reccie visit - it would have been awful (and expensive) if you'd packed up and left and then hated it.

Enjoy your children and grand-daughter :)

Wise woman! How sensible of you to have come for a visit and seen what is on offer. All the best with the rest of your life, now viewed through thankful glasses I suspect!

Dont forget some people cant visit first!! There is no way that OH and I couldve afforded Oz for a reccy at the time!

A reccy (just my thoughts!) is more like a holiday so doesnt give you the real picture! It is always going to be more like a holiday! living and working here are VERY different to holidaying here!

Hi Johatts

My sentiments exactly. Me and OH can't afford a Reccy so we just have to go and hope for the best. Fortunately our son wants to come out with us ( on a different visa ) but I'm afraid if he did'nt come out that it would be a completely different story. Only child an all that. But we all can't wait. Now if someone would just buy our flat .

Take Care

Debbie
