Have you had a chat to B2B? - she more than anyone at the moment can offer you how it's been for her, I know she said she wishes she had taken a holiday rather than deciding to go back, but now is not in a position financially to return to aus. A holiday will be a less expensive way of testing the waters - if you get the feeling that you've gone home then returning to the UK will probably be the right thing to do.

A 2 month holiday back in the UK sounds like a good year, or try another area of Oz??

No point trying another area, we love it here, it's just we now realise everything here does not compensate for what we left behind. We did not expect to feel this way, we were 100% committed to making it work!
We are going back on 7th July, on a one way ticket, but putting out 'stuff' into storage with the shippers at this end in case we decide we want to be here after all. Then we just need to call them to get them to send it ovedr to the UK.
We decided to do it this way so there was no pressure, also it is much cheaper to fly from UK-Oz than the other way around!! So even if we do come back we will get a Uk return and visit home each year! Thanks for all your support!

We have Wridgways, OSS (or OOS, can't remember!) and Kent coming next week, will let you know how we get on!

Where abouts in Devon are you coming back to? It's been a typical bank holiday Monday here today, torrential rain, gale force winds & cold!! (just thought i'd remind you what it's like)

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are going back to the UK. I totally understand where you are coming from as i feel the same. Its not that its a not a nice place or anything like that its just a feeling of not belonging here. I just cant ever see myself settling. We have been here for 17 weeks and the rollacoaster of emotions you go through is unbelievable, one minute you are in awe of the the beauty of the place and the next i just miss all the familiarity of "home" . I know its still early days but everything is just so different and there is so much to take in with regards to the way things are done over here ie, medicare, tax, etc etc. We came over here with all good intentions minus the rose tinted specs but in reality you dont know how you will feel until you have tried it.

My parents are coming over next week and i am really looking forward to it but at the same time its getting me down about how i will feel when they have to go.

Also i dont want to mess up my kids as we brought them over here ages 10 14 and 15 and i know if we go back now it will be a nightmare for my 15 year old daughter as she has missed out on so much schoolwork. Talking of schoolwork too i feel they are not getting the quality of education here that they got in the UK!! My head is spinning at the minute i just really dont know what to do. My husband is 50/50 about OZ he thinks we should give it to at least after Christmas to see.

This is just my opinions and i know some people will disagree with me but everyone is different and if you had said to me in January that i would feel like this i would have laughed at you as i was 100% committed.

Also just for curiosity anyone got any idea how much it costs to get a 20ft container shipped from OZ to UK???

By the way we are North of Brisbane!!

Nicola

Hi Nicola ...I felt EXACTLY how you feel now and my Hubby was 50/50 too...that was 19 months ago and Im afraid nothing has changed and we will be back to Uk in time for Christmas. HOWEVER i have meet many people who felt like you and then turned a corner and now consider Oz to be there home. I think your husband has some good advice about staying till after christmas....but be warned if your homesick the first christmas can be really hard so try not to base your decisions on that... the same when saying goodbye to visitors.

I have looked at some containers so your looking about 7k to 10 k for a 20ft container...if you want I will PM you some companys.

Hope you feel better soon .
