Yep i saw the figures yesterday, feels like its getting higher and higher everyday. I see a lot of my local shops struggling too. Dire!! stuff it, im outta here for a year or two lol.
I do love Edinburgh though and I can see why its such a pull if its your home but best to wait a few years if possible and then you can choose between the two of them whenever you like x

You dont have to do what your parents do - this is your life. At the moment it seems that you have better opportunities in Perth with a job and all - if that changes and you get an offer not to be refused in UK (doesnt have to be Scotland does it?) then weigh up your options and your future direction and make a decision then.
I just dont get it when people either follow their parents or their kids just to keep the family together (nor expect other people to trek around after you if you decide to move) - you cant keep the apron strings tied for ever! You only get one shot at life so do what is best for you!
Good luck!
