I seemed to have missed them when i was in Perth, where are these places, its great to have someone on here who can help us avoid these dozens, or even hundreds of run down places, i await you naming them in eager anticipation.

The shanty towns are where you get a place for 400000 ..! You know the ones that look nice on the Internet 😜

Well I must live in a shanty town then! Some of the members on here have seen my house on my FB page and others have visited...none thought it was awful or that the area was either....I think i got a bargain, im not dumb enough to pay $200k more for snob value.

To move to oz for more house for your money is not only a mad reason but also an untrue statement, you have clearly never been to Perth and have no idea what your talking about. You will find a 4x2 for 400000 there's a reason why it's that price and when you see it in person your realise why your pay 600000 for the same house just up the road. Cheap house = rubbish area home and away. Your see when you land that your be looking at 500 +...

I think our friend Paul has extremely high standards so he is in for a big shock when he gets back here expecting to get a massive good standard house for the average £160k

I think he means by "shanty" towns the new estates like Lakelands/Meadow Springs/Butler etc but many people seem to have bought their sub $450k modern big houses there and love it so what he is expecting is anyone's guess.
Still he is living there so will take on board any warnings he has and be prepared for both my wife and I to work our socks off for a nice house..................................like we do here but with more sunshine !

BTW I certainly am not moving over to get more house for my money but if it happens then that just adds to all the other "better" things in Oz !

Someone I know has just bought a house and land package for $410 in a beautiful established quiet coastal suburb north of Perth. Big 4 x 2 on 500sqm.... not for me but I reckon Hoff would love it, just a stroll to the beach for beers at sunset!
