What's your ideal ?

For all of those returning home what is your ideal house and location ? I would fully expect it to be as varied as it would for people coming here.
Our ideal location is the South West, there are many beautiful areas in the UK but for me the South West wins it. As far as an ideal house fortunately we both love the same things. The thought of a new build puts us right off, for us the older and quirkier the better. A lovely old detached farmhouse or cottage on a decent block. Luckily they don't seem hard to find and are affordable.

Although not returning, my hubby and I did talk about this quite recently and said that should we return we'd probably go to a different part of the country. I've always loved Dorset (and surrounding areas), so that would probably be my ideal. I would love to live in a converted barn

Ah yes, Dorset in a converted barn, I can't see how it could get much better. I love Dorset myself but too far from our good friends unfortunately.

I would probably say south west but too far from all the important people!!! A pretty little village in Vale of Belvoir, Leicestershire would do very nicely or South Lincolnshire I'm off in a couple of weeks to find somewhere to live so I'm hoping more houses will be coming on the market.
