Me & Ruth are moving to Aus very soon.
We want to buy a flat or house as soon as possible.
Can we do this, or do we need to be a perminent resident?
We have permanent visas, but wont be residents for 2 years.
Is there a good mortgage search engine, or company to contact?
Moving to Brisbane area, we think!

I am a mortgage broker on the Sunshine coast. What type of Visa do you have? You mentioned a permanent visa does that mean you have already lived in Aus for awhile and have an extension to your holiday visa or do you have a business sponsored Visa 457? If you let me know exactly what type of Visa you have a can find out the rules for you.

I'm a bit confused a permanent visa means you are a permanent resident from the day you arrive, see link

Skilled – Independent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 175)

We put an offer on a house before I even started work, although the mortgage was only offically approved once I had a letter saying I had a permanent job and had a wage slip. We were also eligible for the first time buyers allowance

I agree with PommieLady on this one. You don't have to wait 2 years, just a job without a probation period. Even with probation, we can arrange exceptions with some of our our lenders.
