Does anyone give car finance for temporary residents

I have 18 months left on a temp visa (457) and desperatley need a car. I live in Perth and have not yet tried anywhere as i've been told I wont get finance due to the visa. I am applying for perm res very soon (next week, but it takes at least 8 months to come through). Does anyone know where I can try or should I just wait?

Thanks

I know this probably a stupid question but have you tried applying anyway?

I'm not even sure that the finance company will even check your residency status, your credit history and current employment status will to be a bigger factor when deciding whether to sell finance your car assuming they don't ask you directly re your visa.

Unless there is a section in the terms and conditions that says you have to be a permanent resident it may not even come up. I'd have a look on a couple of car websites and try and find their T&Cs.
It should give you the answer one way or the other.

Hi
Mortgages on 457 you need 30% deposit, you cant get interest free on 457 and you can get credit up to the end of you visa

Hello,
if you go to Nissan at Osbourne Park- Perth, they do finance for 457 visa.
They require a small deposit but its low amount, certainly not anything near 30%.
If you have a job they will give you finance even the first week of arrival.

Some of the staff are expats and so understanding of finance issues.

Id go and see them, and I know others who have purchased through them.

hiya, we are on 457, and have 2 cars, but the loan is over the life of the visa, so four years which is not a problem! try....you never know!
