Family Allowance

Does anybody know if we are entitled to family allowance and child care allowance when on a 457 visa?

Nope pretty sure not. What Residence Requirements does Child Care Benefit have?
What Residence Requirements does Family Tax Benefit Part A have?

Best thing to do is give Centrelink a ring. They'll let you know there and then.

No.

Dependent spouse rebate is the best you can hope for!

Even on PR depends on how much you earn, our joint income takes us above the threshold

Just to be sure, you are considering FTB parts A and B?

On a temporary visa (457 is one) there is ABSOLUTELY NO entitlement to Family Tax Benefit part A or B.

If you have any chance of going for a PR visa, it is best to do, even if it takes longer to arrange.

Nor are you entitled to child care help or rent assistance unfortunately.

Hi

No unfortunately you are not. Family allowance is means tested as well over here so we don't get anything and we have 3 kids. We don't earn great amounts of cash but are just above the threshold.
