Opening Bank Account

Does anybody know if you can open a bank account before you go to Oz and start putting money in it ready for your arrival. I am heading to Oz next year and have been told that you can open a Commonwealth account which is Australian in London and was wondering if that was a possibility.

yes its possible.

I wouldn't bother sending any money over to Oz just yet as the dollar is pretty strong and you'll only get about $2 to the pound. Best to stick it in a high interest acc. in UK and wait for things to change

We set up an account on line with ANZ before we left.I have had no problems with them so far,
