Child Care Benefit- How much?

A few people have recently been asking about how much child benefit they will be entitled to in Australia, to help work out their budget. This is a link to the Centrelink website; on the left hand side of the screen, click on Rate Estimator, and this will let you estimate your allowance by taking your projected incomes.

Customer Services Online - About Payments - Families - Child care information

This is for people on a permanent visa, who are paying their taxes into Australia, not going over there with their hand out, before anyone posts any negative comments!

Replying to my own thread, forgot to add; I've an interview on thursday for a part time job, and have three kids under school age. I worked out on this that if I earn $20 an hour, and work 20 hours, I'd earn $400 a week. I'd have to pay out kindy fees, potentially up to $280 a week for all three if working everyday, and my childcare benefit would go down by $140 a week. I'd be out of pocket by working- WTF! Need more money, more hours, or just wait until they go to school- only another four years for ther youngest ! I want to work, but not if I'm actually worse off!

A useful link Jo - we found our combined salaries meant we wouldn't get anything ... story of our lives really.... but what the heck we're happy
