Council Tax??

Hi everyone! does anyone know if u pay council tax over in oz, if so is it similar 2 here or cheaper ( cheaper would b good ) lol cheers!

It's called Council Rates here, same as it used to be called in UK

It will vary depending on the council.

In QLD (Redlandshire) our last quarter was $471 BUT that included our water aswell.

In NSW (Penrith Council) a similar sized property has Council Rates of $296 for the quarter, with $176 for water rates, total $472.

Very, VERY, similar pricing :)

Thats actually cheaper, i pay 150 pounds a month for my house here! sounds good!

Hi, we pay £150 per month for the water and council tax here so it's definately cheaper in Oz as far as I can tell,

Another point... If you are renting, YOU do not pay it, it is the property owners responsibility, and therefore it is all covered by the rent.

As a renter you may have to pay water usage only, which in my two examples were: NSW - $84.00 for 70KL and QLD - $35.00 for 54KL (per quarter)
