      nurses take home pay after tax

      hi! can anybody give an idea what is the salary after tax of an RN year 1 working in a private hospital? just trying to figure out if i will make it in Oz with my family being the only earner initially. by the way, NSW bound in the Maitland area. Thanks in advance for your help.

      The wage and tax equates very similar to your wage in the UK, so can you manage in the UK, if you can, it will be no different in Australia, personally living on one wage in either country won't be easy IMHO. Best of luck.

      I have found in my extensive research that private hospitals / companies pay slightly less than the state hospitals. I am also of to NSW and like Ropey says you may struggle on one wage especially if you are going on a 457 as I note you have a school aged child so you will pay school fees if not on a PR visa. Also the sydney area is not a cheap place to live.

      It isn't Sydney prices in Maitland as it is a fair distance but you will have school fees to factor in. Other than that, can you live on one salary now? The answer is much the same.
