We've been to Australia twice now to check things out and we've decided to get the application process started, but there's one question that I cannot find a definitive answer to.

I currently use IWeb (UK) to buy & sell UK & US shares, but I'm considering opening an account with a new broker who also has a presence in Australia.

Does anyone know how it would work if I opened an account with a broker like CMC markets in the UK, then move to Australia. Would my share holdings seamlessly switch over to my 'Australian' registered CMC markets account, or would I need to pay some hefty transfer costs in order to register the shares under my Australian account?

Also, if anyone has any good experiences of a similar transition from UK to Oz brokers, please could you let me know which broker you used.
