      Cant see LAFHA difference

      Hi Guys ,

after a bit of to and fro my employer has agreed to give me LAFHA ...so now after my second paycheck (monthly) I'm confused ..pre LAFHA (1st Month ) I had $x amount of dollars paid into my account ..so now employer agree to pay $650 a week LAFHA and $15k a year for food
coming to approx $47K a year in LAFHA for our family ..great or so I thought ...so my salary goes into my account (2nd month) and it clearly states LAFHA but hey its only $200 more than my last month pre LAFHA salary ..and my original contract definitely does not mention LAFHA and I had to fight to get it put on ..Am I imagining or have they simply added up my LAFHA as $xx dollars and taken that much of my salary and then added the LAFHA in and it remains more or less the same ..hoe does LAFHA work should I not get my pre LAFHA salary +LAFHA so my salry now should be annual slary +LAFHA /12 ?

I'm really confused and think the company may now be benefitting at my expense any LAFHA experts out there please help??

      Thanks

LAFHA isn't extra money per se. It's a percentage of your existing salary that doesn't get taxed so the take home pay will be a little higher. Are you seeing that now it's added?

That's what I was thinking - you don't get $650 a week/$15k a year added to your pay - these are the amounts you don't pay tax on. See Ian Lindgren's handy post in this thread: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/money-...ssumption.html

Mind you $200 doesn't sound much - I'd have thought you'd be looking closer to $1k maybe more in a month? Maybe it was only applied from a certain date so you've only received a proportion for the month?

      Hi Guys,

yip it not even $200 it's actually $92 extra as they backdated it , so 2x 92 ..ie 2 months

Something is most def wrong they even paid me at $xx amount
last month and this month , I got $xx/2 - lastmonths salary + LAFHA allowance .. absolutely all over the place !!
So by my reckoning I'm $92 a month better off with LAFHA
and it's in black in White ie difference between last month ( no LAFHA and this month (LAFHA) somethings seriously amiss .. how cam hourly rate be halved from the original previous month !!
I need a LAFHA expert ro look at this .. anyone ?

Did you check Ian's post that Paisleylass gave you the link to? He gives a link to an ATO calculator and explains how to use it to check your numbers.
