2231-79 Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate) and the new priority
According to the new priority, IT graduates who have already applied under the occupation 2231-79 Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate) will fall into category 4?
This is very illogical because for new applicants, they can now apply as one of the ICT occupations on the new SOL (eg. Developer Programmer or Software Engineer) instead of being grouped together as Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate), which is no longer on the SOL.
Would this mean that new ICT Graduates who apply under the new rule will fall into category 3 but ICT Graduates that already applied under the old rule will fall into category 4?
So, given two people with the same qualification from the same university who finished at different time, the one who finished later and applied using the new rule will get the application processed before the one who finished earlier and applied using old rule?
Does anyone know if there is a work around to this problem or if they are attempting to fix this problem? This is because there seems to be no way out. You can't change the occupation and get new assessment. Also, for graduates who have been graduated for over 6 months can't even make a new application even though you can be assessed as one of the ICT occupations in the new SOL.

I applied in 2008 with recent graduate as occupation and now someone who's got same qualifications as me will get through before me. Isn't it great? I think they still think like convicts. Idiots.

same situation
My boyfriend and I are in the same position with you guys. Both of us applied 885 - ICT Recent Graduates. Heck even the ones with MODL now are the same category with us. I also think that this is illogical... I tried to make sense of it all to no avail.. -,-
I believe DIAC noticed this problem but chose to ignore it. Why can't they just ask us to submit new skill assessment without making new application? My boyfriend is currently holding TR tho, so I'm thinking of pushing my boyfriend to get a new skill assessment, reapply for 885 and restart the whole process again... but he's sick of these whole games and a bit hesitant.
I emailed my agent asking her about priority processing, she still quote me email from brisbane processing centre with CSL rules. I also still got the same email when I sent blank email. I've also asked her about my concern regarding this matter and she hasn't reply back tho she generally reply me quickly. So I think she doesn't have the answer yet.
Sorry I couldn't be any help.
Think positive and do not let the anger eats you up, I doesn't help but only makes you more tired (happened to me before). It is ok to vent you frustration a little tho if it makes you feels better

Hey guys I completed my masters on 26th feb of this year. Can I use it to get new assessment and attach it to my existing 885 application?

Hi jigish,
I think you can get new assessment BUT I don't think you can attach it to your existing 885 application. In this document, on page 3 it said:
Applicants with a nominated occupation that is not on the SOL – Schedule 3 in effect at 1 July 2010 can only move into a higher priority group by lodging a new application with an employer sponsorship or a state or territory government nomination in an occupation specified under a state migration plan. Alternatively, applicants can only nominate a different occupation that is on the SOL – Schedule 3 by lodging a new application. It is not possible to change a nominated occupation or to change to an employer sponsored or state nominated visa category, unless a new application is lodged. A new application would require the payment of a new Visa Application Charge.
Are you holding bridging visa at the moment? When did you student visa expires?

Yes, I have bridging visa A and my student visa expired last year. But why are you asking me that? Is there some workaround?

I asked because if you hold a eligible visa, you can lodge a new application with a new skill assessment if you chose to have one.
Even though you have a new skill assessment on schedule 3, I don't think there's any other way beside lodging a new application at the moment since they clearly said that you can't nominate a different occupation.
I am in the same position with you. I've working experience now plus I'll be finishing my master soon. I am holding a bridging visa. Therefore even though I apply for new skill assessment for occupation on schedule 3, it would be useless since it is not possible to update you nominated occupation.
So we can only wait and pray now

To apply in Group C (for ANZSCO) do you need to have completed your degree within past 6 months?
For old SOL 2231-79 (ICT Recent Graduate) i believe that was the requirement.
Anyway, new classification means another $2525 + $400 just to get into group 3. I recall someone saying there is a significant number of ENS so I doubt that group will get processed as fast as some people are making it out to be.
