457 Visa WA - 7 weeks and still waiting....

Hi, I just wanted to see if other people have been waiting as long as we have for our 457 visa. We submitted the application through our migration agent on 31/5/10. And ever since then we have just been waiting and waiting...

We are in contact with the agent, but they dont tell us much. The latest was that we had been assigned a case officer but they were just waiting for it to be finalised and granted (but that was several weeks ago).

The strange thing is we havent been asked for any additional supporting documents, and neither has my company. We have (we believe) a pretty clear case when it comes to skills, experience and background checks. So we dont really understand what the delay is.

Is anyone else in the same situation? It seems that the processing times vary from 2 days to 10 weeks...why is that?!

      Hiya!
I submitted mine on 18th May, they requested a medical on the 9th June (but only after I had emailed asking for an update!) which was completed and sent off. The status changed to 'meds finalised' yesterday and we are back to waiting. A friend who has gone to work in the same place only had to wait a week before her visa came back. There doesn't seem to be any logic whatsoever to the length of time these things seem to take.

We have a daily routine - get up, check emails, be disappointed....!!

Has your agent asked for an update or estimated date of completion?

      Hope all is resolved soon

Yes we have exactly the same routine...wake up and check emails...nothing!

I'm glad to see its not just us anyway!

We have asked the agent for updates...but they say that nothing has been update on the application since the CO was assigned. Is it possible to request a date they expect it to be completed?

      GOT OUR VISA YESTERDAY!!

We sent an email to the CO after finding nothing in the inbox when we got up and she replied 2 hours later with the news that the Visas had been granted!!

Get you agent to perhaps give them a gentle nudge. The impression I get is that they look at things as they get to the top of the pile but if you prompt them to dig your case out they might find it just needs a last signature or confirmation.
