      Priority Processing for GSM

      Hi all,

This is fresh off the press (19 July 2010 6PM AEST):

The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, has set new priority processing arrangements for certain skilled migration visas. These arrangements take account of the changes to the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) that came into effect on 1 July 2010, as well as the revocation of the Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) and the Critical Skills List (CSL).

Priority Processing Arrangements for General Skilled Migration Visas – 19 July 2010

      Regards
      Peter

P.S. Gill I also copied this in the Migration Agents sub-forum, since I don't know what the new protocols are...

      Hi,

      Latest:

This is the priority processing announced today 19 July 2010:

      1) Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
      2) Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)
      3) Certain General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas. (Listed on SOL)

SMP shall be available in second half of 2010-11.

Therefore DIAC is in position to process Cat 3, right now. I think it is a good news for lots of applicant already applied and have their occupation on SOL.

      Best regards

      Hey Peter
      Thanks for breaking the news

I read through the entire FAQS and found Q17 is kind of good news at least

Q17 I applied for GSM. If my nominated occupation is not in Schedule 3 of the SOL in effect at
1 July 2010 can my application receive higher priority processing?

Yes if you are nominated by a state or territory government under a state migration plan.
Applicants who lodged before 1 July 2010 that have been nominated by a state or territory government agency
in an occupation that is subsequently specified in their nominating state or territory’s state migration plan will
receive processing under priority group 2.

Occupations on the SOL - Schedule 3 in effect at 1 July 2010 – priority group 3
All applicants with a nominated occupation on the SOL - Schedule 3 are included in priority group 3. This includes both independent applicants and applicants sponsored by an Australian family member or nominated by a state or territory government (but not on a state migration plan).

Priority group 3 includes all applicants with a nominated occupation of accountant, except those already included in priority groups 1 or 2.

Please explain what this means?( to Accountants)

I am accountant too. Maybe this means, that we also receive a priority processing, even if applying for offshore 175.
ICAA Assessment 12/2009; 175 lodged 09/2010. Landed in Melbourne 03/2011 on a visitor visa. CO assigned 06/2011, PR Visa GRANTED 08/2011. Relocated to Cairns, QLD 03/2012, still unemployed.
