457 Granted..

...in six weeks...Hooray! And that with the Case Officer being on holiday for the last two weeks (Didn't tell anyone though so when emails from our Agent went unanswered mild panic set in!).

We were very nervous as I have Ulcerative Colitis - a chronic condition that I thought might put a spanner in the works - something I've had for 10 years that flares up every now and again. But a letter written by my consultant I took along to my medical seemed to do the trick.

I've only seen a couple of mentions about this condition on PIO but not heard of any outcome - hope this info helps someone in the same position in future.

457 is a temp visa , does not matter about meds ,its pr when they look closely , you dont have to have meds usually on a 457

Visa Granted 8th June. Flight out 30th June...arrgghhhh!!

Thanks for that message - you have just restored my hope in the Visa system!! I have Crohns disease and have applied for a 457. I finally received a message after 3 weeks (and a bit of email prompting) asking me to get a medical done which sent me into a blind panic! I have it booked for end of next week and have just asked my specialist nurse for a copy of her notes from our last appointment in the hope it will speed things up a little.

We had to have medicals for ours !
Well done nicandbren do you know wher in Sydney your heading ? We fly out at the end of July and will be in sans souci for the first 6 weeks
