community welfare is in new SOl or not??
can anyone answer if community welfare is in that new SOL? as i only saw the welfare centre manager as occupation.
anyone knows some details about this matter, please help as i know many welfare course applicants have been in pipeline and a lots still studying or finishing?
probably migration agents or Gill would help to clarify this?

The entry requirement for this occupation is a bachelor degree or higher qualification. In some instances relevant experience is required in addition to the formal qualification.
Welfare Centre Manager 1299-15 - Australian Skills Recognition Information
Mind you a diploma would not suffice. Also government has raised the student visa AL4/3 requirements significantly so most students would struggle to get an additional student visa. The rejection rates seem to be far higher ( based on what I read in student forums )
I see it as a concerted strategy to avoid Degree-to-PR fiasco
But if you have a bachelor it seems you are safe ! for now :-)

thanks for info jane
thanks Jane for the info. I actually applied for my PR in march last year as welfare worker. been working nearly 3 years for Vic government since i finished my course in end of 2007. i have gone through TR 485..and applied for PR when i reached one year experience as welfare officer. i wonder a bit about this list as doesn't affect me at all. just a bit wonder if u think DIAC would cap and cease for this occupation already in pipeline similarly to the rumour that DIAC would introduce the kill bill for cook and hairdresser?? what do u think?

Sorry I am not an expert but Welfare Center manager has an ASCO code of 1299-15 and Welfare worker has an ASCO code of 2512-11
They are in entirely different subgroups ! I also noted that ANZSCO seems to require 5 years of work exp.
I suggest that you find out how ANZSCO classifies the two ... if they fall in the same group ( 1299-15 and 2512-11) then you could feel a little secure !
1220.0 - ANZSCO - Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations, First Edition, Revision 1
Compare the skills level and work description between ANZSCO and ASCO relevant occupations and see if they are identical/similar
Here is the ANZSCO hierarchy ^ . I am sorry I cannot be of anymore help as I did not study welfare.
