      Issues with 457 to PR?

      Hi,

Hoping that someone can shed some light on this for me, I am hoping to apply for my PR soon. I have been here on a 457 for 15 months now, 1st off what options are open to me, the whole Visa thing confuses me with all the different options! I think that there is an ENS visa which is supported by my employer?

Also while I am bugging for questions is there any delays on the process from 457 to PR?

If its of any importance I am a Panel Beater and the main applicant with my wife and 2 children as dependents.

      Terry.

I am a nurse and I went through the ENS856 visa process.

I had to get medicals/police checks done again. My process took 6 months but 4 of those were waiting for an appointment to see a consultant for my epilepsy!

Not sure how it would work for your occupation

On my 457, I could apply once I had obtained an Oz electrical license, which was about 3 months after ariving. So as you can see, it depends on your circumstances.

      Hello All,
There are a number of ways to gain PR while on a SC457:

      1. You can have your skills assessed and apply for an Independent visa (SC175/6) at any time (as long as your occupation is on the SOL and you meet the points pass mark).
      2. You can have your skills assessed and apply for an ENS visa at any time (as long as your sponsor is prepared to sponsor you for PR).
      3. If you earn over $165,000 you can apply for an ENS visa at any time (as long as your sponsor is prepared to sponsor you for PR).
      4. You can wait till you have been in Australia for 2 years on a SC457 and been employed by your PR sponsor for the last 12 months at which point a skills assessment is not required.

Of course there are other factor as well but these are the basic requirements.

      I hope this helps!

Perfect, I think the second point is most relevant to me, thanks for the advice.

Hi Its Ratchet on OH log in.

Just to put a twist on this. When applying for my ENS i spoke with my employers immigration advisor who said i did not need to get a postive skills assessment. Just send in the paperwork that would prove a positive skills assessment with my ENS application.
I asked for my nomination number 2 months after my start date in Oct (09). Sent into immi in December and got the number through for the ENS by 15th Jan (2010).

I submitted my application march. The only thing thats keeping me waiting is a visa medical thats sat with the panel Drs due to heart issues
