Hi everybody,
I was assessed by ACS in 2231-79 (Network Security Specialist).
I applied for state sponsorship and got rejected from Victoria.
I applied for state sponsorship from South Australia on 6 May 2010 and sent supporting documents same day. They changed my application status to "Complete set of supporting documents are in SA immigration office" on 11 May 2010.
Now, I see new SOL and I'm not sure if my assessment is valid or not, is here somebody to help me and get me out from this gloomy mood?

I'm in exactly the same boat ! Had the rug pulled from my feet. SA have not announced what is happening, they are processing only SS for those that already have a visa lodged, so we are in a state of limbo until DIAC allow new Visa applications to be made, and also until we are advised of the workings of the SMP's. I'm kinda wondering if you will still need to apply for the SA SMP list, which will hopefully be the same as the SS process and therefore our existing SS applications will be processed as that - thats what I'm hoping anyways.
I contacted my skills assessor and they advised that it's likely the codes will overlap, but if not, just to get back in touch and they would issue a new letter.
I'm sure SA will be aware of the various codes for each discipline.

My application is currently with ACS for 2231-79 (Network Security Specialist) also. I'm hoping to get a positive assessment, and then possibly apply for SS Victoria, but worried now! Did VIC explain why they rejected you?

1. Applications from people who are employer sponsored under the ENS and the RSMS.
2 (a) Applications from people who are nominated by a State/ Territory government agency under a State Migration Plan agreed to by the Minister and on the new SOL. All applicants previously under 3 and 5 (i.e. CSL and non CSL, already holding SS) and are also on the current SOL and SMP list could move here automatically (no need to apply for SMP again provided it is the same state). Existing applicants who are currently on cat 4 (CSL but no SS) and on the new SOL and SMP list could apply to move to Cat 2.
2 (b) Applicants not on SOL but falling under SMP**
** The SMP could probably be a subset of the SOL. If there is an immediate need of a particular set of skills/occupations that are not on the SOL, the States would have make a strong case as to why a particular occuption not on the new SOL should be included in their SMP. These applicants could fall under cat 2 (b). There might be very few, if any, additions to the SMP over and above what are already listed in the SOL.
3 (a). All existing applicants under old cat 3 on the new SOL and sponsored by a relative.
(b) All existing applications on SOL, not under 1, 2 and 3a above, in the order received
4 (a) All existing applications, not falling under 1, 2 and 3above , in the order they were received.
All new applications will fall under either 1, 2 or 3 and will be processed after the existing applications under the respective categories.
Hi Anya
That is exactly how my head is working and hoping got everything crossed that you're right, but sadly nothing ceases to amaze me, so we'll just have to carryy on 'watching this space'! x
Started 175 ball rolling for Carpenter on 24th July 2009, 176 for WA granted 11th Jan 2010.......
CO finally allocated 17th Jan 2011, police checks done meds done Dec 2010
NO More waiting
VISA GRANTED 17.02.2011

I had 130 points before 8 February 2010, and after that unforgettable date I have 115 so I could not move forward through 175 and have to get SS. Do you think 2231-79 (Network Security Specialist) is in the new SOL list?

They emailed after 3 weeks and asked about job opportunity in Victoria and told if I found a job vacancy with contract they will approve my SS!

Hi md8008
I think you'll be fine on the new sol - the roles listed are more generic when it comes to IT.
Take a look here 1220.0 - ANZSCO - Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations, First Edition, 2006
Search for the role as listed in the SOL or the first 4 digits of the code number and see which description fits your role best.
Good luck with everything.

I didn't get why Victoria state told me to secure a work.
Also please be aware 263111 COMPUTER NETWORK AND SYSTEMS ENGINEER is not in the new SOL. is there any special quota for states other than what is in new SOL?
