179 family sponsor or 457 employer sponsor visa?

Does anyone know what type of visa is the best to apply for ? it seems that the 176 family sponsorship is a very long wait,would it be better to try and go for a 457 employer sponsorship visa? and if so what would be the best way to go about this? Do you have to stay with the same employer? or can you get a new job and would you also need sponsorship from them. if you did get a 457 and then wanted to go for PR would you still have to pay the high application fees(like the 176)?
Hope this makes sense if anyone can help please?
