Can my sister sponsor us
Hi
My only sister is a citizen in Australia and my husband and I are in the UK but would like to emigrate. My parents are still in the UK, does this mean the remaining resident visa does not work for us.
I dont think it will because of my parents but I would like someone to confirm it.
Thanks
Tina

Hi Jersey Couple,
As you say, you couldn't apply for the remaining relative visa due to your parents. Any relatives of your husband would also be taken into account if he had any.
What your sister could sponsor you for is a skilled sponsored visa (look up information on www.immi.gov.au for visa number 176 or 475). One of you would need to be the skilled applicant, but with your sister's sponsorship the pass mark is lower or you could get some extra points.
Good luck, Kazza
